SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
First Prize Winners
Mohamad Alamin Younis
I’m an architect first and a collager second. After finishing my Bachelor in Architecture, a year ago, I took a year off to prepare for my Masters Degree. I’ve been mentioned once in the amongst the top 30 in an International Drawing Competition, but it’s until now that I’ve had the time to compete in architecture competitions. My drawings are not any drawings; they carry a message, and belong to a specific time. For each project, I like to adopt the appropriate architecture style to reflect any relevant artistic or architectural grounds.
Second Prize Winners
Raquel Mena
I am a 3rd-year architecture student in ETSAV-UPC (Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura del Vallès) in Barcelona. It is something I have always desired to study and explore further.
We still have much more to explore and propose. I would say the vast majority of the things that are being built have no context; they are unattached to its surroundings. If it does not unravel the complexity of the environment, it's nothing but a volume placed in there and therefore should not be treated as architecture.
I aim to work in the rehabilitation area; I genuinely believe that architecture that comes out of pre-existent spaces adds to the whole process some fun while remaining very challenging as well.
