JURY COMMENTS
The concept of blending Jeju Island's volcanic terrain into the design is impressively imaginative. The incorporation of oreum-inspired shapes and the "olle" pathway, alongside the inventive sensory room featuring gabion structures and basalt elements, showcases a remarkable level of creativity. The project adeptly combines natural features with contemporary design principles.
The design shines in creating immersive sensory experiences. The sensory room offers dynamic interactions with nature—light filters through skylights, wind and basalt provide tactile sensations, and aromatic basalt stones enhance the atmosphere with pleasant scents. The use of gabion structures not only serves aesthetic purposes but also contributes to environmental sustainability.
The thoughtful division of space into areas for living, meditation, multimedia, and sensory experiences seamlessly integrates with the natural landscape. Practical elements, like temperature regulation through gabion structures, further enhance the functionality of the space. Aesthetically, the design draws from the natural curves of the oreum and the volcanic characteristics of Jeju Island, making it visually striking.
Overall, the design effectively communicates its visual and aesthetic qualities. The presentation is clear and well-organized, vividly portraying how the house integrates with the landscape and enhances sensory experiences.
